Security / File Privacy
Last updated: September 2026
This page explains how DTools handles the files you upload to our PDF and image tools. For advertising cookies and analytics, see our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.
1. Why We Process Files
When you use a tool (for example, JPG to PDF, PDF to JPG, merge PDF, or compress PDF), we process your file only to complete that request and return a downloadable result.
2. How Processing Works
- Browser-side tools: Some image tools (such as crop, resize, or compress image) primarily process files in your browser.
- Server-side tools: Some PDF tools send your file to our servers so we can convert, merge, compress, or render pages, then return the output to you.
- Uploaded content is used for the conversion/edit you requested — not to build a public library of user files.
3. Storage and Retention
We do not store your files. Our flow is simple:
- You upload a file for a tool request.
- We process it to create the result.
- We return the response for you to download.
- We do not keep your uploads afterward.
Files may exist briefly in memory or temporary processing space while the conversion runs, then they are discarded. We do not sell uploads, publish them, or keep a personal file archive for you.
4. What We Do Not Do With Your Files
- We do not sell your uploaded PDFs or images.
- We do not use your file contents to train public AI models.
- We do not publish your uploads for other users to browse.
5. Security Practices
- Connections to our site should be served over HTTPS to protect data in transit.
- Access to production systems is limited to what is needed to operate the service.
- We rely on reputable hosting/infrastructure providers to help secure the environment where server-side tools run.
- No online service is perfectly secure. Avoid uploading highly confidential documents (passwords, medical records, government IDs, etc.) unless you accept the residual risk of any internet-based tool.
6. Your Responsibilities
- Only upload files you have the right to process.
- Do not upload illegal content or files containing malware.
- Download and safely store your results; do not rely on us as a backup or document vault.
7. Advertising vs File Content
Google Ads, Google Analytics, and related cookies may collect device and usage information about how you browse the site. That is separate from the contents of files you upload for conversion. Advertising tags are not used to read your PDF/image file contents for ad targeting.
